What is Protein
Every living organism is made up of cells. Cells are basic units of life that are largely made up of Proteins. There is continuous formation of new cells ad death of existing cells. So, when there is lack of Proteins in diet, new cells formation does not take place causing impact on body.
Hence, Protein is the most important nutrient that plays an vital role in growth and repair or body structure and functioning of every organ properly. They form important part of all bones, muscles, vital body parts like blood, hormones, tissues like hair, nails, skin etc. So it is very important to have adequate quantity of Protein in our daily diet.

How much Protein?
WHO recommends 1g/Kg weight/Day protein consumption, but upto 2g/Kg weight/Day consumption can be considered safe.
Persons having normal daily routines needs 60g of Protein per day. One gets 25-30g of Proteins from daily vegetarian food, that does not fulfills daily Protein needs. Hence, one need to take food supplements to bridge the gap.
What happens in case of Protein deficiency?
Symptoms of protein deficiency include loss of muscles, premature ageing, dry and wrinkled skin., reduced vision, brittle nails and hairs, increased illness, delayed wound healing, fatigue and feeling of lethargy, weakness, anemia, depression, fluctuation in sugar level, digestion issues, muscles and joint pains and impaired growth in children etc.
Is excess of Protein harmful?
Regular intake of high Protein above recommended level can cause side effects like damage to kidneys, coma etc.
